Life is really simple but we insist on making it complicated.

We’re well into the Dog Days of Summer as I sit and write this blog. Brian is outside enjoying the heat at the golf course, the cats are sleeping all day waiting for the sun to go down to begin their patrol of the neighbourhood for the evening. Yes I worry about them being out all night, but I’m quite confident my boys of 16 & 18 lbs can take care of themselves. Other than the odd car, they’re the biggest things in the bushes.
Last month I talked about Mindfulness – living in the present. I had a lot of very positive comments and feedback on the subject. Staying more or less on this subject with a slight tack, I really like the quote by Confucius above about how we make our lives more complicated and difficult than they need be. Instead of following our life’s path, letting ourselves flow in a downstream direction, we seem to insist on turning ourselves around and paddle against the current, struggling to move in a direction other than our own path, and at best we end up sitting still. It’s only when we exhaust ourselves from this repeated, frenetic effort and give in to our own life’s current and let it carry us down our own path that we begin to find peace and contentment, the understanding of our place in the grand scheme of things and, if we’re lucky, we find love, gratitude and higher awareness. Life is a mystery waiting to be discovered – not a problem to be solved..
Enjoy the rest of this warm and delightful summer
Namaste,
Karen
