We must have waited our whole lives for this moment.

There are no constraints on the human mind, no walls around the human spirit, no barriers to our progress except those we ourselves erect.

If April showers bring May Flowers, what to May Flowers bring? Pilgrims of course. It’s an oldie, but I still like it because of its silliness and unexpected punchline. The weather in April is much the same – you never know what to expect. It can snow in the morning, be warm and sunny in the afternoon and then finish off with Thunderstorms in evening. As long as there’s not too much snow in the equation I really don’t mind what it brings.
My husband introduced me to the band Yes when we first started dating. I must admit I wasn’t overly impressed until I started listening a little more closely to the lyrics. The quote at the top of the page is one of his all time favourite lines from one of their songs. “We must have waited our whole lives for this moment”. When you stop and think about it, we wait our whole life for every moment and when you look at the ramifications of waiting over 57 years to be sitting here now writing my present thoughts to page, it becomes almost too much to ponder. Every thought, every site you see, every noise you hear, every smile you smile or tear you cry have been waiting for you all that time. It also shows you just how glorious, how wonderful and yet, how fleeting time is – our time, our lives. 50-years, 60-years, what the heck, 100-years – they’re all just a drop in the bucket of the eternity that the universe holds and is willing to share with anyone and everyone. Every moment, every instant is its own eternity that we are free to examine, to understand, to be in gratitude for, to share or to ignore, although I find it hard not to try and make every moment count when I realize that I’ve waited over 50 years for it and also knowing that it will never be here again. Try and make each moment of each day as positive and glorious as you can. Make it special and rewarding. Try and stay in the moment as much as possible. Don’t dwell on the past – learn from it yes, but don’t relive your failures or hold on to negative emotions, and don’t avoid living in the present by worrying about the future. In the immortal words of Orphan Annie – tomorrow is always a day away.
Until next month,.
Namaste,
Karen
